Dude You Got Some Gum And Anti Bag Campaign In Britain

medical packagingThis post is by no means supposed to offend those who use marijuana for medicinal purposes but I cannot help but chuckle at how far we've come as a nation.  Just today I learned that marijuana in chewing gum form is set to debut in the US.  Medical Marijuana company has purchased a 50% stake in CanChew Techologies and together they plan to roll out medical marijuana chewing gum by October as well as Europe later this year.

Truth be told, for years we have sold stand up pouches for medical pot to legitimate companies in California but within the past few months they were shut down by the state.  We've been told not to dispose of their inventory, meaning they anticipate being back in business sometime soon.  Stand up pouches, also known as stand up bags and Mylar stand bags are made from multiple layers of barrier film, this barrier film when layered together creates a pouch with the strength to stand effectively on a store shelf and protect the contents, in this case cannibis, from moisture, odor, vapor, sunlight or your college roommate (sorry, couldn't resist).  There is no truth to the rumor that with every pack of medical marijuana gum comes a free Taco Bell coupon for Nachos BellGrande.

Another interesting article about an anti bag campaign across the pond in Great Britain.  There continues to be a lot of negative press about bags, all types of bags from grocery store sacks to stand up bags and plastics in general.  This is nonsense!  Way too many people are clueless when it comes to plastic bags and the 3 Rs...reduce, reuse, and recycle.  To help our environment, you can find ways to reduce the amount of plastic, or you can reuse something, and finally you can recycle it and make it into more pouches or something else made of plastic.

Stand up bags are one of the smarter choices to reduce the amount of plastic used that ultimately ends up in a landfill, whether that is switching from a jar or jug or plastic pail andrecycle stand up bags moving into a stand up pouch can yield up to a 75% reduction in the amount of plastic thrown away as trash.

Stand up pouches and or bags in general can be reused and repurposed for other applications, from lunch bags, storage bins, and let's not forget as handy bags for picking up the dog doo doo.  Finally, bags are recyclable...stand up bags and trash bags and grocery bags, etc...they are recyclable.

So before you buy into the "anti bag and anti plastic" campaigns and want to rush and buy some new packaging made from corn starch or some other radically expensive material, think again, the best solution for helping Mother Earth may be a plastic bag.
