Stand Up Pouches for Product Packaging

Flat Bottom Stand Up Bags--Take Aim At Cereal Packaging

Cereal. While only one is famously known as "the breakfast of champions", cereal in general is a staple of American mornings. From sugar frosted flakes to raisin bran to granola to cartoon inspired kids' grains (some even including marshmallows), they come in many varieties and flavors.

What most cereal also comes in is a box. With inner bag packaging. Usually made of some variety of plastic or wax-type paper. Which is almost NEVER resealable. Result? The box may be closed, but it doesn't mean the contents haven't spilled out of the top of the inner bag. And if the inner bag doesn't stay closed, either staleness sets in or pests get in (or both!).

There is, however, some news in the packaging world: Flexible box bags have arrived and they may just solve cereal packaging problems for good. Also known as side gusset stand up pouches/stand bags, these flexible box bags are a revolutionary type of package, a hybrid that combines the both boxes and stand up pouches.

A flexible box bag has side gussets which give the package its shape. Of course, this type of stand up pouch still has a flat bottom; now, however, it's more boxlike and, therefore, more stable. The bag stands up on the shelf and, although previously thought unlikely (if not impossible), actually stands out from the competition even better than stand up pouches.

The side gussets also provide more printable surface area for your labels or custom printing (in up to 10 colors) of product and company info, offering you the flexibility to tailor your packaging for maximum marketability. In fact, flexible box bags have 5 sides on which to apply labels and/or the printing of text and graphics.

Like all our stand up pouches, flexible box bags are puncture and moisture resistant and protect your products from vapor, odor, pests and, if necessary, ultraviolet light. Of course, a barrier (made from all FDA approved materials, by the way) that keeps those things out is equally effective at keeping freshness, flavor and aroma in.

But what happens once the bag is opened? Won't the cereal get stale? Not with the ziplock closure that our design permits because it's a "box-like" stand up pouch. Significantly, these bags are also landfill friendly and recyclable to boot.
