Just the other day I was in the mood for an ice cold Diet Pepsi, right around the same time I noticed this article about the sweetener used for Diet Pepsi.  I don't know about you but sometimes I would rather just pretend I don't know what ingredients are used for diet drinks or any other product I eat or drink.  Words like "pure" and "all natural" are nowhere to be found on Diet Pepsi, in fact the article mentioned above goes to great lengths to describe Rebaudioside A versus Rebaudioside D and how one "Reb" is better than the other.  To be fair to Pepsico, all diet drink companies use chemicals to improve the taste or lower the calories, etc of their particular diet drinks.  I had to laugh as this particular article said, "Reb D is more organoleptically pleasing than Reb A."  Try "organoleptically" for your next Scramble game and I bet your word will be challenged!

Let's face it, diet drinks are not going to "go away", in fact just the opposite, they are one of the fastest growing segments of the industry.  As a result, these beverage companies need to find organoleptically pleasing ingredients all the time and with that comes using the correct type of beverage packaging for the raw ingredients or additives.  Beverage packaging that can protect these items from moisture, vapor, odor, or any other negative element.  One type of beverage packaging is known as a stand up bag.  Also known as Mylar standup pouches, or custom printed stand bags, this particular flexible pouch is made from scientifically engineered barrier films laminated together to form the barrier properties while at the same time create the strength for the pouch to stand effectively on a store shelf.

Just as important is the environmental piece.  Historically additives, chemicals, and ingredients used for beverages were shipped and stored in plastic pails or drums.  These items, while extremely strong, are expensive, take up a ton of room in your warehouse, and can cripple any company when it comes to shipping them as in reality you are shipping air.  Stand up bags on the other hand, ship flat, store flat, and cost a fraction of the plastic pail, drum or jug.

Where standup bags really shine is with custom printing.  The wide face and back of a stand up pouch provide generous amounts of room for custom printing or even an applied label to tell the world why you product is go great, long lasting, good for you, and yes "organoleptically pleasing"
