Stand Up Pouches for Product Packaging

Bear Naked Granola In Stand Up Pouches -- The Beginning

While I have no proof that Bear Naked Granola packaged in stand up bags started a new trend in the packaging industry, I bet I'm right.  I cannot tell you how many times people have referred to stand up pouches, also known as stand bags or stand up bags as "those Bear Naked stand bags" or "Bear Naked pouches".  Even to this day, companies large and small use the Bear Naked stand up pouch as a benchmark to imagine their product on a store shelf.

The beauty of course of stand up pouches is the natural wide face and back that provides ample room for an applied label or better yet, custom printing.  Even further, the industry continues to provide heavy duty and cutting edge barrier films that are used to form the stand up bag so it stands effectively on a store shelf while keeping the contents fresher for longer.

While I'm sure the makers of Bear Naked, back in the day, had to purchase large quantities of stand bags per SKU, that's just not the case anymore.  Bold, stunning, photographic quality along with now a minimum run quantity of only 5000 pieces for custom printing has opened up the industry for companies that never could have imagined being on a store shelf at Whole Foods, Target, or WalMart!  Now small companies can compete with the "Big Boys" and the large companies can test new products without having to commit huge amounts of cash for large quantities of the packaging.

Bear Naked Granola, we salute you.  You really did start a new trend and changed an industry at the same time.
